Fashion’s love affair with Formula 1 has existed since it was first considered sexy to drive really, really fast. With sponsorships from fashion brands overtaking tobacco brands in the early ’00s. Now, F1 popularity is at an all time high. Especially considering it has been one of those sports that has ballooned in the mainstream only over the past half a decade. In no small part thanks to an acclaimed Netflix series, which gave fans like us a new glimpse into the goings-on of some of the world’s fastest men.

Today, the Formula 1 series now makes up 22 races taking place in major cities across the globe. Each event is a glamorous affair, and celebrities from across the globe flock to these tracks to watch the high-octane racing. Some of the races across the globe have been so synonymous with celebrity attendance, that they’ve become fashion events in and of themselves.

Each time the grand prix reaches another city, the event becomes an exciting, celebrity-ridden affair, well-attended by everyone from musicians to actors. To miss the F1 when it reaches somewhere close to you is akin to missing a significant red carpet event. You’d be forgiven if you thought this was ever about racing in the first place.

Drivers like Lewis Hamilton have obviously taken cues from their stylish celebrity fans, and have themselves upped their fashion game between races. Australian Daniel Ricciardo is hot on his heels as another of the sport’s most fashionable men.
